Meet the Film Commissioner Marco Giron
Marco Giron serves as the Film Commissioner for Miami-Dade County and is the chief executive overseeing the growth of the entertainment production industry in the largest market in Florida. Mr. Giron has more than 20 years of experience working in film and the entertainment industry with a deep expertise in growing jobs and generating revenue in the creative economy. He directs governmental interactions with some 200 production companies, numerous sound stages and recording studios, three Spanish-language production facilities, and a multitude of businesses supportive or adjacent to the motion picture, TV, video, digital and still photography industries. As the County’s Chief of Film and Entertainment he fosters key relationships with studio executives, prolific filmmakers, and key industry production media companies to attract projects with a mission of developing Miami-Dade County as a top global destination for film production.
Since his appointment on February 14, 2022, he has led the economic recovery of the County’s creative industries. Under his leadership, Miami-Dade County created the largest film incentive program currently in the State of Florida, launched an education initiative and is working with global markets to amplify the county’s reach within the industry. The High Impact Film Fund Program is a historic achievement as the nation’s first program of its kind. Aside from directing Film Miami - which offers a one-stop permitting system for projects filmed in the County and its many municipalities - Giron’s office also oversees the Miami-Dade Film and Entertainment Advisory Board and The Miami-Dade County Film Education Initiative.
Marco is a Certified Protocol Officer, trained at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. in diplomatic relations. He is an award-winning public administration media professional with extensive communications, film, and entertainment industry credentials. He serves on the Association of Film Commissioners International and has received numerous awards and accolades of which include “The Achiever” by Miami Today. He is also a former Talent Agency Director, responsible for negotiating contracts and managing several high-profile projects, brand development, talent acquisitions and a large array of celebrity client portfolios in the entertainment industry. .
With extensive senior government experience, he previously served the City of Doral as the Deputy Director of Communications and Film Liaison and was the also the Chief of Staff for the Office of the Vice Mayor during his tenure with the city. Prior to working with Doral, Mr. Giron served the City of Miami directing special projects in media and film in the Office of the Mayor.
These significant senior roles in government public administration have garnered him a reputation in government as a trusted and reliable advocate for the film and entertainment industry.
